Vertix were contracted by LTA to assist in the design of 12 new bus interchanges. As part of the services, Vertix conducted pedestrian and vehicle microsimulation models of the interchanges, and provided turnkey traffic impact assessment (TIA) services. Each interchange presented unique challenges that Vertix helped to address through design. Our design advice included:

• Minimum walkway widths
• Bus parking bay quantities
• Bus boarding/alighting bay quantities
• Pedestrian overhead bridge sizing
• Circulation area evaluation
• Queue design

As part of the process, Vertix also conducted numerous surveys of existing bus interchanges, collecting the following data:

• Bus Volumes
• Boarding/Alighting Demand
• Dwell Time
• Bus Occupancy
• Bus Parking Demand

The TIA component of the project informed the design to mitigate impacts of the new bus interchange to the local roadway network. The TIA included recommendations for improvements at the adjacent junctions and within the bus interchanges themselves
